Cost of an Online Doctor's Appointment

Virtual Doctor Appointments Without Insurance

Telehealth services without insurance can be very affordable. The fee for an online medical consultation starts from $20 for a quick online consultation, ideal for urgent care needs. Prices vary from doctor to doctor depending on their years of experience, city, and speciality.

online doctor visit with insurance

You can use your travel or health insurance to pay for your Doctorsa consultation. It’s pretty straightforward. When you’re ready to check out, you’ll see an option to select your insurance carrier and enter your policy details.

Doctorsa works directly with many insurance providers. But even if your provider isn’t on that list, don’t worry! We’ll spend up to a week trying to arrange direct coverage for you. This means you might not have to pay anything out of pocket.

The cost of your consultation will be temporarily held at checkout. Then, once your insurance provider confirms they’ll cover it, that hold is lifted. It’s our way of making sure you get the care you need without the upfront costs.

Your questions answered

Nothing complicated. Open the intake form and choose one of the following options:

  • Urgent Care: For immediate virtual doctor appointments.
  • Set Up an Appointment: To schedule a same-day or future appointment.
  • Prescription Refill: Use this option if you have lost or forgotten your medication.

Next, select how you would like to receive appointment offers from doctors.
We recommend using WhatsApp as it is faster and more reliable. You will quickly receive various visit options. Choose the one that suits you best and proceed to online payment.

Video visits are browser-based, so no apps are needed. Simply click the link you receive to start your video visit in your browser.

After the consultation, expect to receive an invoice and an e-prescription via email. You can show or print the e-prescription to purchase medication at the pharmacy of your choice.

Yes, you can get a prescription without seeing a doctor in person, with a telehealth appointment. Through online consultations with a doctor, you can receive an express prescription you can fill at the closest pharmacy.

The doctor will email a copy of the prescription to you or send it through Whatsapp after the consultation. Please be aware that doctors have a professional responsibility to make their own assessment and cannot simply prescribe medication based on the patient’s request or a foreign doctor’s recommendation without first confirming that it is appropriate for the patient’s condition.

An online doctor might be right for you if you have a minor issue that does not require in-person medical care but is still urgent (e.g. sore throat, UTI, flu, etc.). It’s perfect if you don’t have time or don’t want to search for a doctor appointment. An online doctor is also perfect for minor but urgent situations or when you need medical assistance during off-hours such as weekends and holidays. An in-person appointment is sometimes preferable for medical issues that need specialist attention (e.g. require x-rays, stitches, blood tests etc.).

An online doctor is not intended for life-threatening emergencies.

Yes, whenever you submit your request it is instantly received by the doctors active at that time. Whether it’s late at night, on a Sunday morning, or on New Year’s Eve, there’s always someone on the other side who’s ready to see you. When you receive an option for an appointment, there’s a person behind it (a doctor) who’s read your request and is willing to assist you.

Yes, antibiotics can be prescribed during a video consultation with a doctor. Antibiotics in Europe are not available over the counter and pharmacies do not have doctors on site. To buy antibiotics, you’ll need to carry a doctor’s prescription to a pharmacy. For example, the cost of antibiotics typically ranges from 5 to 15 euros.

Doctorsa complies with GDPR regulations. When you submit a request on Doctorsa, the content of the request is shared with all available doctors while keeping your data anonymized until you select a provider. Once you’ve chosen a doctor and booked with them, your provided information and contact details will only be shared with them. Doctorsa will never sell your personal information.

Yes, it is possible to pay with insurance. During the checkout process, you’ll be prompted to provide your insurance carrier information. Alongside this, you’ll also need to enter your payment details. The consultation cost will be temporarily withheld until our team verifies your coverage with your insurance provider. Once confirmed, the reserved amount will be released. However, if we’re unable to confirm your coverage or if your insurance doesn’t cover the payment, the reserved amount will be charged. In such cases, you’ll promptly receive an invoice, enabling you to claim a refund directly.
